There are so many mysterious things that happen in medicine that I’ve learned to love the unknown. Because it cuts through the dictums we’re taught to live by, like that malignant effusions are forever.
How refreshing to think that you gave that idea the middle finger and can now live your life breathing easily literally and figuratively. You also gave me one of those little sighs of hope for more weird great outcomes for the future. Congrats and please please let this continue.
Your words are much appreciated and very well said.
In late May at the ER, we thought another Pulmonary Embolism was my issue. You diagnosed Pleural Effusion (fluid in lungs). We chatted, joked around, laughed during those brutal moments.... Thanks for making that episode much more doable--you're awesome.
Haha. It's an honor to have you reading my work, Mark. Thanks. It's amazing that I've inspired you to keep breathing.
In 2021, former San Jose Mercury News sports columnist Mark Purdy became the first journalist inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame. Mark was my favorite and the best morning read at San Jose coffee joints for many years back when the Merc had more than two million daily paper-version readers.
impromptu shoutout
Now retired, my journalist hero spends his time reading HennSchtick, so cool, and for SF 49er fans Marks new book, The San Fransisco 49ers, an illustrated timeline, is available on Amazon--release shipping date Oct 15.
Appreciate the kind words, Chris. My face is blushing from your nice words. And thanks for the plug regarding my book. I tried to make it fun for readers and remind them of why they like to watch sports in the first place. (It's not about the salary caps and point spreads.) I'm sure inspiring people wasn't necessarily your primary goal in your ongoing health adventures. But you're doing a good job of it. Onward.
Harry thanks so much for reading and reaching out. You are probably my biggest best most favorite prayer warrior thanks it means much. Love seeing you on FB
I'm glad to see you back to motivating yourself around the neighborhood and back to your writing pursuits. You have quite the stories to tell that will touch those who read them.
Thank you for reading and taking the time to write, Althea. Thanks for your kind words. We all have stories. I love telling mine. It's quite therapeutic tell let it out. And now I'm circling the neighborhood. Haha!
I've just had the chance to get to know you over the phone and seeing your posts online and you've already been through so much. You have been in my prayers; I do believe in the power of prayer. We share much from running to raising daughters. Glad you have had some positive strides and keep on keepin' on!!
Charles I love hearing from you. Tnks so much for reading and for your kind words. I'd love to take you to coffee or lunch and talk about Paris 2024 Track and Field
